A common criticism I see people make of Harry Potter (the character, not the series) is that he’s a normal kid in a magical world and he loses his sense of wonder after the first book or so. Instead of immediately trying to absorb everything there is to know about magic, Harry just goofs off and neglects his studies. But, I mean, there’s plenty of wonderful stuff in the real world too, and most of those people don’t bother becoming astronauts or something.
