– Why I keep making this exact same joke

Someone once commented that my first attempt at this joke seemed incredibly convoluted for such a simple punchline and I was inclined to agree. Since then, I have made it a life goal of mine to retell the exact same joke as many times as possible before I finally discover its Platonic Ideal.
