So I read Pride and Prejudice some weeks back and I quite enjoyed it, but the whole resolution to the Wickham arc felt low-key depressing to me. Lydia’s a 15 year old who makes a dumb teenage decision and the best way to resolve the matter is to basically sell her off to the asshole she ran away with. I mean, I’m sure Jane Austen intended for us to see that and understand it’s a messed up aspect of  early 19th century marriage culture, but still…
